Anniversary Trip to Curaçao
Top Reasons for Booking Your Baoase Escape Now!
Curaçao is a fantastic destination that offers an enchanting blend of rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning natural beauty. Nestled in the southern Caribbean, this island paradise is renowned for its pristine beaches, crystalline waters, and world-class diving spots that teem with diverse marine life. Visitors can explore the colorful, UNESCO-listed capital of Willemstad, where colonial Dutch architecture meets lively markets and enticing cafes. Curaçao's multicultural heritage is celebrated through its festivals, cuisine, and warm, welcoming locals. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or a taste of Caribbean charm, Curaçao promises an unforgettable experience with its unique blend of attractions and friendly atmosphere.
We just celebrated our 25th anniversary at Baoase, the top resort on Curaçao, and if barefoot luxury is on your list, then you, too, will be in heaven at this intimate, relaxed resort.
Here are the top reasons why Baoase should be on your travel bucket list …
A Warm Welcome - A Home Away From Home
This lush haven is private not pretentious. The warm hospitality is a hallmark of this wonderful boutique resort. If a true getaway is what you aspire to, Baoase will open its 500-year-old doors and usher you in to the perfect vacation experience.
A Pefect Blend Of Rich History & Modern Touches
The decor is full of natural materials like Indonesian artifacts, warm woods, gorgeous stone surfaces and unique shell light fixtures. I love staying somewhere full of unusual surprises that is truly welcoming, comfortable and thoughtfully designed. The mix of treasures the owners brought back from Indonesia coupled with modern touches is my kind of luxury. (Examples: the Dyson hairdryer at the dressing table in our walk-in closet and Sonos speakers for customizing our tunes indoors and out.)
The culinary scene is simply fantastic!
While a delicious daily breakfast at the beach restaurant is included in the room rates, I highly recommend the all-inclusive dining plan. Chef René and his team offer themed nights throughout the week (Asian, Indian, Italian, Barbecue), with amuses, specialty cocktails and multiple shareable courses that give diners the opportunity to sample their skills in an amazing variety of dishes. Some of our favorites were the grilled chicken, smoky spare ribs, grilled fish, perfect filets and appetizers from delicious salads to a half-lobster and oysters from the cold waters of the Netherlands (since Curacao is Dutch).
A Spa & Wellness Retreat
The spa experience at the Baoase Luxury Resort in Curaçao is nothing short of extraordinary, offering a tranquil haven for relaxation and rejuvenation. Set within the lush, tropical gardens of this boutique resort, the spa provides a serene escape where guests can indulge in a range of luxurious treatments designed to soothe the body and mind. From soothing massages and revitalizing facials to invigorating body scrubs and wraps, each treatment is crafted using premium, natural products that capture the essence of the Caribbean. The skilled therapists at Baoase tailor each experience to the individual needs of their guests, ensuring a personalized and deeply restorative journey. With its peaceful ambiance, exquisite attention to detail, and breathtaking surroundings, the spa at Baoase Luxury Resort is a sanctuary of wellness that elevates the Curaçao vacation experience to new heights.
Location Location Location
The ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao are about 40 miles from the coast of Venezuela, so these blue-water escapes are well-situated to be south of common hurricane paths. Location makes this a great option for a fall island getaway when storms are swirling around Caribbean resorts further north!
The Ability To Explore
If you want to venture out, the capital city of Willemstad is just minutes away. We enjoyed our stroll through town checking out the fruits and veggies stalls and colorful facades (like a Dutch Rainbow Row!). We chose a day when cruise ships were not in port, so it was not super busy.
This location is for the Adventure Seeker
The west side of the island is just a short ride or private transfer from Baoase. Snorkeling, diving, sunset sails and more are popular activities from the various beach clubs along turquoise stretches of water. There are hiking trails that climb from beaches with flamingos to rocky overlooks above the sea.
Easy Transfer
Getting to Curaçao is remarkably easy, making it an attractive destination for travelers. The island is well-connected to major cities around the world, with direct flights available from key hubs such as Miami, New York, Amsterdam, and Toronto. Curaçao International Airport, also known as Hato International Airport, offers modern facilities and efficient services to ensure a smooth arrival and departure experience. Additionally, the island is a popular port of call for various cruise lines, providing another convenient travel option. With its accessible location and frequent flight schedules, reaching Curaçao is hassle-free, allowing visitors to start their island adventure with ease.
Flights are plentiful and navigating the spacious Curaçao airport is easy. We flew Delta heading south, and it was an easy 3.5 hr flight from ATL. On the return, we tried American via Miami.
A Hidden Hideaway
Baose is a blissful escape for couples and would be phenomenal for a destination wedding. That said, there are some villas with multiple bedrooms and large outdoor kitchens and seating areas with access to private pools. Older children are allowed - we saw a few during our stay, and they were swimming, reading and enjoying great meals. This would be a nice spot for a chill girls' getaway or mother-daughter escape for foodies.
With hurricane season heating up, Baoase is a barefoot luxury that guests can enjoy year-round. If you're craving a island vacation in the fall, I'd be happy to help you get away. The food, drinks and service are top-notch! And be sure to book a massage in the breezy beach tent. The soundtrack of birds, waves and palm fronds was as relaxing as the actual massage.
