36 Hours In Charleston – The Ultimate Girls’ Trip

Charleston, SC is a city brimming with history, charm, and culinary delights. It’s the perfect destination for a 40th birthday celebration with your best friends. We recently embarked on the ultimate girls’ trip, spending just 36 hours downtown, and we’re excited to share our whirlwind adventure with you.

Day 1: Exploring the Culinary Scene

Lunch at Cru Cafe:

Our journey began with a delightful lunch at Cru Cafe. Nestled in a charming historic house, this restaurant serves up Lowcountry cuisine with a contemporary twist. We Recommend: The Chinese Chicken Salad paired with the General Tso’s Chicken and the Fried Softshell Crab Sammy with buttermilk dill slaw and red pepper jam on a brioche bun.

Check-in at The Dewberry:

Our home for the trip was the exquisite Dewberry Charleston, a mid-century modern luxury hotel that exudes elegance. We indulged in their spa services complete with cookies from Kudzu Bakery paired with a bottle of Rosé. Massages, facials, and relaxation were the order of the afternoon, which was a perfect start to a 40th birthday celebration of our Social Media Manager!

Cocktails at the Citrus Club:

As the sun began to set, we headed to the Citrus Club, the rooftop bar at The Dewberry. The panoramic views of Charleston, coupled with craft cocktails just as the sun was setting made for a magical setting. We relished this time to bond, take in the scenery, and capture Instagram-worthy photos.

Dinner at Félix Cocktails et Cuisine:

For dinner, we chose Félix Cocktails et Cuisine, a French-inspired brasserie. The atmosphere was lively, and the menu featured a delectable selection of dishes. Our birthday girl was treated to Chocolate Pot De Crème, which was an absolute delight!

We Recommend: The Racelette Burger and a fun cocktail!

Day 2: A Day of Exploration

Breakfast at La Patisserie:

Day two started with a visit to La Patisserie, a charming French bakery next to Hotel Bennett. We came for the treats but stayed for the conversation inside their beautifully curated space.

Downtown Shopping:

Caffeinated and ready to conquer the day, we ventured to King and Market Street, Charleston’s premier shopping districts. Here, we explored an array of boutiques and unique shops.

Lunch at The Palmetto Cafe:

For our final meal in Charleston, we selected The Palmetto Cafe at the Charleston Place hotel. The restaurant’s tranquil garden setting was the ideal backdrop for a leisurely lunch, and the cuisine was nothing short of exceptional. We Recommend: The Palmetto Burger and The Chocolate Hazelnut Tart.

Rosé at The Charleston Place:

After lunch, before our goodbyes we visited The Charleston Place Hotel’s outdoor wine bar. This courtyard oasis, filled with blooming flowers and cozy seating, is known for its charming outdoor wine bar. We couldn’t resist the allure of a glass of rosé on a sunny afternoon.

Our 36 hours in Charleston was a whirlwind of unforgettable experiences, sumptuous cuisine, and bonding with our best friends. This charming city, steeped in history and Southern hospitality, provided the perfect setting for the ultimate girls’ trip. From exquisite dining to spa indulgence and retail therapy, Charleston has it all. If you’re looking for a quick escape with your girlfriends, Charleston should undoubtedly be at the top of your list.
